Brrrrr!  This was definitely our coldest show as we couldn't quite figure out how to get the heat running in the on-air studio.  On the upside, people called in to make some great requests!  The highlight of the show was probably us raving about how we were both obsessed with Beach House's Zebra, and then playing the wrong song.  And then the wrong song again....whoops!!  Stay tuned for two weeks from now when we actually fulfill our on-air promise to play it.  In the meantime, here's this weeks playlist...

Today's show was difficult.  CDs were strewn all over the place, and some tough cuts had to be made.  Janelle and I both agree an abundance of music is a great problem to have - so far 2010 has offered up some stellar new releases, and there is no shortage of amazing bands passing through Saskatoon in the next couple of months.  We might just set up camp at Amigos.  Here is our final playlist...stay tuned to hear the songs that didn't make the first draft but will surely make an appearance two weeks from now.

Playlist for January 25, 2010 - SNOW!!!!

I love snow!  We certainly got our share of it this weekend, and I should have predicted this would make getting to the station difficult.  Janelle was stranded in Calgary once again (I'm starting to think this is intentional...), so I knew I had to make it to the station or there would be many disappointed listeners (hahaha).  After half a block, half an hour, and many spinouts, I finally gave up, left my car at home, and headed to the station by foot.  It was an almost unreal atmosphere as I marched on bravely down the roads (sidewalks were out of the question...too many drifts!).  Abandoned cars, people madly shoveling, vehicles spinning out, and others soldiering on by foot dotted the streets as I ran/walked to the station...the atmosphere was brilliantly eerie and exciting.  I did make it to the station only 10 minutes late, and managed to fit in most of the playlist I had painstakingly planned (for once!).  Thanks to my friend Erin, who heard of my predicament as she listened to my show and braved the streets in her vehicle to escort me to work afterwards.  The day got off to an unusual but exhilerating start, and I can't wait to go play in the snow!!!

January 11, 2010 Playlist

Today's show was simply groundbreaking with the introduction of a theme song (Yeasayer's Sunrise) and a new segment just before 7:00 called the "change of heart" (when Camille and I try to convince each other of the merits of a particular song).  Oh, and did I mention it was our first show of the decade?  Pretty impressive stuff.  Camille even taught me a new term for the 2000s (the "aughts")...who knew?  Okay, well apparently Wikipedia agrees with her...but she probably just added the entry herself!!  We dotted the playlist with some favourites from the past year and decade, too.  Enjoy!
